I hope, Eddie-san, that you're not planning on not teaching me. I was committed to learning before I even knew you'd be buying me such a wonderful gift.
[His eyes are settled on her face, trying to read her reaction, trying to see if she really does like it or she's just playing at being polite. He thinks he chose well; and if she's still willing to learn how to play, it doesn't look like he was just assuming too much.]

No, no, I definitely want to teach you. I just... I don't know, just giving you one more chance to back out if you think it's too weird or whatever. I get real into this stuff.
I think it's good to have something you feel so passionate about. And I can't say for certain whether I would consider it strange or not without actually learning more about it.
[ She's definitely going to give it a try!! But she gives him a bright smile. ]
But really, thank you. These are lovely-- I mean that.
[Lifts his mug--he ordered coffee, and it steams--to his face, hiding the curve of his smile, but it's still visible in his eyes. Takes a sip.]
I'm glad you like them. Like I said, it's the least I can do since you've been so nice to me since I've arrived. I got myself a set, too. Of dice, I mean -- red and black. Not exactly matchies, but pink and purple didn't really suit me.
Red and black is also a very nice color scheme. [ Joker swears by it. ]
And I believe I already said this, or if I haven't, I should have, but you don't owe me anything. I got the chance to get to know you better, which is payment enough.
Of course, I think that opportunity will only increase, given the living situation, if I've yet to frighten you off.
[Haru’s the closest thing he has to a friend in this place. He’s already Pavlov’d himself into associating her with feeling more comfortable in a foreign environment.]
