[ He'll be directed to the second floor if he mentions who he's looking for-- and there's Haru in one of the beds, bandaged vigorously, curls a little singed, some bruising on what bits of her skin are visible.
She looks exhausted, but she brightens to see him. ]
[Second floor it is, and he looks a little winded when he arrives, like he's been hurrying the whole way. Eddie crosses over quickly to her side-]
Haru. Haru, hey- Jesus.
[All of her bandages, the bruising. Is her hair looking like it took a too-close call with a conflagration?]
You look like hell.
[Thanks, Eddie. But he means that in the most concerned way imaginable, standing at her bedside looking a little aghast. He'd just seen her this morning, after all, perfectly fine.]
[ That startles a laugh out of her, which prompts a brief coughing fit that has her wincing a bit but still able to smile up at him once it's given her a reprieve. ]
I appreciate your honesty, truly. I was never fond of flattery.
[His eyes still linger on Haru, though, even as he finds an extra chair and scoots it all the way to her bedside again, the legs squeaking against the floor. Eddie plops himself down in front of her, his brow deeply knitted.]
What’s the— You know, the prognosis? Are you going to have to rest in here for a few more days? How are you feeling? What the hell even really went down?
[The questions come spilling forth, an anxious energy.]
I intend to go back to the apartment tonight. [ firmly. ] I'm... well, still processing everything that happened, but nothing's broken and I'm in no danger now. It's mostly just burns and smoke inhalation at this point, and impact bruises when the store started to collapse and things came crashing down.
[ She pauses, glances down at her hands. ]
... It might take me a minute to explain everything.
That you let me help you out with your bandages. You're going to have to let someone fuss over you a little bit if you're going to be that stubborn about returning to the apartment as fast as possible.
[ She's quiet for a moment, gazing down at her hands and flexing her fingers. Well, if it's to be in exchange for not protesting her leaving the clinic... ]
After I helped with some evacuation with the bomb problems, I went to the shop to tell Aerith I likely wouldn't be able to work today. I came across a group of armed men with gas masks trying to break into the shop and surprised them. They attacked me, but I was helped by two of my coworkers, who had also arrived to see what was going on. We fought our way inside, to get to Aerith and another coworker, with some, ah... minor complications.
[ It's fine. ]
From what Aerith said, they were after her, and she was willing to turn herself in to protect us, but I shot that down. Then we fought back the rest of the attackers, but the last man surviving opted to set himself and those who had fallen on fire, which quickly spread to the rest of the shop. We were able to evacuate before it fully burned down, but not without...
I'm not sure. They weren't exactly in the mood to be talking, and she didn't have the time to explain. So I'm afraid I don't understand that part very well.
[Without any real reason, that's even worse. Surely people don't just attack flowershops for fun around here; no, there must have been something else going on in the background. Some gang war or something, something related to the explosion that shook the district.]
Well, I'm just glad you're out of there and mostly safe. You and everybody else.

don’t act like that’s not a big deal
you can’t even walk
i’m coming over to see you

Just be careful? I don't know how dangerous the streets are right now.
no subject
don't worry about me
i'll be there soon
[And he will be, every step taking him there and finally, into the clinic, a harried one.]

Would you like to sit down?

Wait, didn't you just say you can't really walk around? Isn't tonight too soon?
[...They'll loop back around to explaining everything.]

[ She doesn't want to stay here!! ]

What about all your bandages?
[Like, doesn't she need someone at the clinic to change them out?]

[ It's not like her hands were burned. ]

Well, I promise not to lecture you about it if you promise me something, too.

All right. I accept.

[At least there's that. Eddie can feel as if he is contributing somewhat to his recovery, a nice balm against the uselessness he's feeling right now.
But this isn't about him. He sighs, leans forward again just slightly.]
Now... tell me exactly what went down.

That's freaking insane. Wait, why were they after Aerith? What'd she do?
